East & North Herts NHS Trust runs an established brachytherapy service at Mount Vernon Hospital. This service includes LDR seed brachytherapy to the prostate, treating approximately 50 patients per year using I-125 seeds. We are looking to enter into a contract with a supplier for the provision of seeds for implantation, equipment to facilitate this service, and services (support and training) to support this service going forward.
We are keen to retain our position as one of the country's leading centres for prostate brachytherapy, and require a supplier who will act in partnership with us as our service evolves and develops. The supplier will need to provide excellent reliability for our clinical service, and demonstrate that they are aware of current developments in the field of LDR implantation. As part of the package it will be expected that the supplier is able to source and provide ancillary equipment, as will be specified in the tender specification, that will be required by the centre for seed implantation. This will include, but not necessarily be limited to, upgrading of our current ultrasound scanner, and tracked stepper. We are also looking for assistance from the supplier in meeting the centre's training and staff development needs.
