Strabane District Council as Lead Implementing Council on the NW Healthy Living, Community Gardens and Allotments Project is seeking tenders from suitably qualified organisations for the Design and Delivery of a number of Educational Training Programmes for the 4 Council Partners operating as part of the NW Healthy Living and Community Gardens and Allotments Project, namely Strabane District Council, Donegal County Council, Limavady Borough Council and Magherafelt District Council.

II.2.1)Total quantity or scope:
Provision of tenders for the following list of Healthy Living/Gardening programmes at sites across the 4 Council areas of Strabane, Limavady, Donegal and Magherafelt.
Healthy Gardening Training for Trainers - (50 participants in total)
2 x courses - Each course to be delivered over a 2 day period (25 participants per course)
This course will be targeted at the gardeners employed through the programme at each of the 5 sites and also people providing training in related areas such as biodiversity, re-cycling, cooking, green health, beekeeping, sustainability etc. This course would need to be tailored to the specific needs of the participants to include areas such as health and safety, risk assessment, nutrition, green exercise, healthy eating, beekeeping etc. Upon completion of this training participants will be going back into their respective communities and delivering this training themselves.
The budget available for this training will not exceed GBP 10 000
Healthy Gardening/ Green Exercise Accredited Programme - Level 1 - 100 participants x 5 areas = 500 participants and Level 2 - 75 participants x 5 areas = 375 participants - ( 875 participants in total)
This course should cover various topics including the following but not exclusively: the type of foods available and their growing season, food and its nutritional value, eat healthy on a limited budget, practical demonstrations, sustainability and recycling/waste management, physical activity including making best use of outdoor gym equipment. Developing skills in soil preparation, planting, harvesting
The budget available for this training will not exceed GBP 122 500
Healthy Gardening Schools Education Programme - 200 participants x 5 areas (1 000 participants in total)
This course will be targeted at both primary and secondary schools and youth groups and should cover areas such as creating an awareness of what a community garden/allotment is for. Developing skills in food identification, food preparation, process of planting seeds right through to harvesting, getting involved in the outdoors.
The budget available for this training will not exceed GBP 35 000
