Nottinghamshire County Council priorities for Private Voluntary and Independent Sector Support to Early Years Providers:
The council's Early Years strategy sets out our ambition to ensure that all young children and their families, including those with SEND, are able to reach their potential by having the best possible start in life through the provision of high quality, integrated early childhood services. One of the priorities identified in the strategy forms the basis of our intention to tender is to ensure there are sufficient, high quality, inclusive and safe early learning and childcare opportunities that prepare children for school.
Revisions to Ofsted frameworks and statutory guidance for local authorities across the sector places greater emphasis on the need for quality improvement and a sharper focus on vulnerable young children. A recent Ofsted report highlighted the need for effective leadership in early years settings to ensure that provision is of the required standard.
Commissioning Intentions:
In order to achieve our ambition and to raise the standards of our provision, it is the council's intention to secure additional support services to work alongside our current teams to provide support to childcare providers on domestic premises, including childminders and management committees of preschool playgroup settings, known as ‘the providers', with a particular focus on:-
- Recruitment and/or maintenance of providers in areas where there are sufficiency requirements.
- Support to those providers who are required to improve, particularly those who are in receipt of early education and DCATCH funding.
- Support to providers where families with disabled children access inclusive early education/childcare provision.
Supplier Event:
In advance of a formal tender we are inviting potential suppliers of this support to a workshop to discuss our desired outcomes, the national and local challenges we face and to gain an understanding on the issues faced by suppliers. Ultimately this workshop will inform NCC thinking on the services that are procured.
The workshop will take place at Mansfield Library on Friday 7th March between 10-12.30. Places at the event are limited so numbers are restricted to 2 representatives from each organisation.
Please confirm attendance.
