The design and build of 68 number units over numerous sites in Shropshire to incorporate all mechanical and electrical and external works. Previously procured by Shropshire Council for Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing the ALMO (as stated in the previous tender documentation relating to this Award).
Shropshire Council intends to build 68 new build dwellings spread over a number of different geographical and largely rural locations in Shropshire.
The works will require an understanding and experience of the following:
- Homes and Communities Agency's (HCA) Design and Quality Standards 2007
- Life time homes
- Secure by Design
- Code for Sustainable Homes
- Build for Life
The works will be in two distinct areas of Shropshire and as such will be split into two lots with tenderers able to tender for either or both of the lots. The lots will be split by geographical area, one lot for the Oswestry area with circa 10 number sites and one for the Bridgenorth area with circa 5 number sites.
66 of the dwellings are HCA funded and will as such will need to meet the standards mentioned above (these will be a mixture of Affordable Rent and Shared Ownership units).
2 of the dwellings are part of a Section 106 requirement and will not need to meet the standards above.
All dwellings will need to be completed with all relevant certification by February 2015.
Shropshire Council have formed an Arms-Length Management Organisation (ALMO) to manage its housing stock and this organisation is the purchaser and whom Shropshire Council are procuring the aforementioned works for. The ALMO is named Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing.
