The Sea Viper anti-air weapon system is the Royal Navy variant of the tri-national PAAMS (Principal Anti-Air Missile System) programme, and is the primary weapon system on the Royal Navy's Type 45 Destroyers whilst the Long Range Radar (LRR) provides the Type 45s with long-range sea and air surveillance as part of the ships' defence capability. The MAWS PT has a requirement for the purchase of a range of consumable items for the Sea Viper Weapon System (excluding the munitions) and Long Range Radar (S1850M) in order to support the system and radar's serviceability.
The MAWS PT intends to satisfy this requirement with an initial bulk buy of consumables in the first two years with a facility for any potential subsequent top-up buys. The consumables will be divided into separate lots in order to correspond with the LRR and the Sea Viper component systems which are, likely to include, as a minimum: the Multi-Function Radar, Vertical Launch System & Command and Control System. Details of the specific consumable items will be provided by reference to a Nato Stock Number with the estimated quantity and required delivery profiles detailed in the ITT when it is issued.
A Reverse Auction, conducted using electronic means, may be used as apart of the procurement process for this requirement. Specific relevant information in relation to the use of a Reverse Auction will be given in the ITT. It is anticipated that the Reverse Auction will take place in May 2014 with a preceding PQQ and ITT stage, although this date and the delineation of the lots are subject to change as the requirement progresses.
