Soldier System Programmes (SSP), part of the UK Ministry of Defence, proposes to place a 5 year Enabling Contract with Level Peaks Associates to enable the procurement of upgrades in order to enhance the protection and utility of current operational and training helmets.
The Contract will be for the supply of side armour and gunsight mandibles, SLAAP Plate, Helmet cover and Helmet Huts. Ops Core are the OEM for the armour and gunsight mandibles and SLAAP Plate and First Spear are the OEM for the Helmet cover and Helmet Huts. Level Peaks are the sole UK distributor for both OEM's.
It is considered that this contract can be placed using the negotiated procedure without prior publication of a contract notice pursuant to Article 28(3)(a) of Directive 2009/81/EC (Regulation 16.(1)(b)(i)(aa) of the Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations 2011). Level Peaks is the UK sole supplier of the OEM's who have mandated that we use Level Peaks. The upgrade needs to be supplied by the OEM to ensure compatibility with the existing fleet.
