The Astrophysics Research Institute (ARI) at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) seek to purchase a number of large format, low noise CCD sensors suitable for integration into a camera system that we are building as part of the WEAVE spectrograph. WEAVE is a project to build an astronomical dual beam, multi-object spectrograph for the William Herschel Telescope. It incorporates two camera systems (one per beam) that are being designed and built at LJMU. The camera systems will be cryogenically cooled and will each contain either one or two large format charged coupled device (CCD) sensors. This contract notice is for the procurement of either two CCD sensors of active area at least 122 x 92 mm (with at least 8192 x 6144 pixels) OR four CCD sensors of active area at least 122 x 46 mm (with at least 8192 x 3072 pixels). The sensors must be CCD sensors mounted in a package suitable for incorporation into our camera system and meet the various other criteria (such as flatness, low noise, high quantum efficiency and a wide wavelength range) as specified in the tender documents.
