Northumberland College is seeking a main building contractor or contractors to complete the design and execute the construction works. The project consists of work on two separate sites owned by the College. The Ashington campus works involve a new engineering block, refurbishment and remodelling of two existing blocks and part of the ground floor of the main building, and substantial demolition and external works; the Kirkley Hall campus involves a new tractor workshop, a new education centre, and demolition and external works. The approximate construction value excluding VAT is £6m. Experience in managing multiple work areas simultaneously, phased programmes involving decants, and fast tracking will be essential. Works are expected to start towards the end of 2013, with funding restrictions dictating that full and final completion must be no later than December 2014. Applicants wishing to be considered for the tender list must request, via email only, an electronic copy of the pre-qualification questionnaire from the contact given in 1.1, which must be returned no later than the time given in IV.3.4.
