II.1.5)Short description of the contract or purchase(s)
It is intended that the Framework will be awarded in 7 Lots with a maximum of 75 suppliers in all: 15 suppliers in each one of the lots 1, 2, , 4 and a maximum of 5 suppliers in each one of the lots 4, 6, 7.
Values are based on institutions' data and estimates and are for information purposes. The customers for these products are all Engineering specialities, Materials science, Technology and Design departments and any department making prototypes for research purposes; potentially any institution department of participating consortia or Research Council may make use of this Framework.
All agreements resulting from this tender should be made available to and apply to all current and future members of SUPC, Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges (APUC) Scotland, London Universities Purchasing Consortium (LUPC), North East Universities Purchasing Consortium (NEUPC), North West Universities Purchasing Consortium (NWUPC), Higher Education Purchasing Consortium, Wales (HEPCW) and the Research Councils (RCUK). Other institutions or Consortia may also access the Framework only on the express permission of SUPC.
This is on the understanding that not all Suppliers may be able to serve all these institutions, and that the Framework is not intended to replace any current agreements that either participating or non-participating consortia may have.

II.2.1)Total quantity or scope:
SUPC awards and manages framework agreements for the education sector. This framework will be awarded for a period of 24 months with option to extend for up to another 24 months. This is the first National Agreement in this commodity area and therefore all GBP figures are estimated.
There is no guaranteed level of expenditure; the competitiveness, level of service offered, and marketing effort of the chosen suppliers will be crucial in determining how many institutions support the framework. Institutions will call off from the framework in a variety of patterns as identified in the ITT.
The tender is split into 7 Lots and bidders will be able to bid for one or more lots. Multiple suppliers may be included in the award of each Lot depending on the competitiveness of the bid and the ability of suppliers to serve all sites of at least 3 identified institutions. Bidders will be able to provide these services directly or through subcontracting the supply and distribution of one or more product ranges to a third party.
Mandatory requirements apply and are detailed in the Background Information section of the Invitation to Tender (ITT). Bidders should read this documentation carefully before completing the Tender documentation.
Bidders should make certain to comply with the process requirements for completion and submission of the Tender Response as non-compliant Tenders be rejected.
