Yarlington Housing Group spends around £600,000 each year on building materials directly on its planned and responsive repairs and maintenance programmes.
Additionally we work with specialist contractors who also spend up to £300,000 a year on materials. Some of these materials may be sourced by Yarlington Housing Group in future.
The range of trades' materials we need covers every sort of domestic property requirement, from heating to roofing, from drainage to locks. The only exception is electrical works which are undertaken by a sole sub contractor.
Our housing stock is a diverse mixture of archetypes, including sheltered housing schemes, detached and semi detached houses, flats, and bungalows.
We operate from a central stores in Armoury Road, where we have materials delivered.
Some of these are bulky items such as pre-assembled kitchen units; others are standard items we need in our repairs service.
Our Repairs Team comprises plumbers, joiners, general building, decorators, and gas engineers. Currently our electrical works are carried out by a contractor, and other specialist services are sub contracted as well.
Our Repairs Team have vans complete with a pre-determined stock. From time to time, either because a property needs a specific item that we don't stock ourselves, or for convenience of location, we collect from merchants' outlets.
Through this tender, the base line is our current operation. We want to find the best overall costs and service that enables us to continue our current modus operandi and as far as possible with a primary supplier or suppliers.
