Border Force uses a range of X-ray Scanning Equipment in order to carry out its work at the Border. It is intended that a Framework of Supply and Maintenance Contracts will be tendered during the current financial year 2013/14. The Tender will be divided in to a series of individual Lots that will cover Border Force's requirements for:
1.Mobile Freight Scanners capable of penetrating a wide range of vehicles and cargoes in RoRo and sea container environments
2.X-ray Freight Pallet Scanners
3.X-ray Baggage Scanners- over Belt (fitted to new and existing baggage carousels)
4.X-ray Baggage Scanners - static (also for packets, parcels and small cargo)
5.X-ray Baggage scanners -mobile mounted in a van
6.Personal X-ray machines, capable of revealing narcotics concealed within body cavities
7.Narcotics/Explosives Trace Detection
Border Force is seeking suppliers of a range of equipment suitable for operation in diverse operational environments. In particular suppliers with equipment capable of scanning:
- Freight Vehicles
- Sea Containers
- Palletised freight, including air cargo
- Passengers baggage
- Post and parcels
- Passengers - internally concealed items (not clothing or outside the body)
With regard to narcotics and explosives trace detection equipment, both static and portable/hand held equipment are of interest to Border Force.
The equipment will be utilised throughout the UK and potentially in the British Zone in Coquelles, France.
Any potential Suppliers who are interested in undertaking this role should provide the following details to the Contract Authority no later than 17:00 on the 26th April 2013.

It is intended to carry out a Supplier Engagement Event to be held in Manchester, during the week commencing 29 April 2013.
During this process, the Authority will look to the participants to assist in refining their technological requirement. Places are limited, If you wish to take advantage of this opportunity and to participate in a one-to-one meeting at the Event, you should register your interest via e-mail to no later than 17:00 on the 19th April 2013.
