II.4)Short description of nature and quantity or value of supplies or services:
As part of a project aimed at improving future fire fighting techniques, GMFRS invites organisations capable of supplying and/or developing body worn and hands free audio equipment to respond to this PIN notice.
The brigade has a requirement for an interface to its radio equipment that will essentially result in the user being able to operate the system when restricted arm movement applies, for example when commited to rope rescue work or when using high pressure lances or branches. It is envisaged that any such system shall have a PTT button, but shall also operate by Vox and an earpiece be provided for when the operator is working in a noisy environment. A lack of cabling and creative solutions, along with blue tooth options are all to be included in the system. The system should have the ability to transmit on the UHF channels, which are allocated to GMFRS in both digital and analogue mode. The radio should be switchable between the two by simple actions of the operator. GMFRS is keen to explore the possibilities of this technology and invites prospective suppliers to respond to this PIN notice.
