Section II: Object of the subcontract
Service category No 1: Maintenance and repair services
Support, Repair and Calibration is required wherever the GPATS are deployed within the UK to maintain an agreed level of availability of the test system to users. Maintenance includes provision of spares, obsolescence management, and participation in configuration management issues, administration and attendance of regular user group meetings.
LASAR Software Support is for Full Service Agreement (FSA).
The Design Authority for the S9100 GPATS hardware and software and also LASAR software is vested in Teradyne Ltd who has experience and the necessary expertise and facilities to provide the level of work and services required. There have been no issues experienced with Teradyne in the past and due to them owning the design rights it is considered unsuitable for competitive tender as the complexity of running a competition, identifying a suitable contracting period over which benefits could be delivered, wrestling design rights and formally letting a contract would be unlikely to be completed before the current contractual arrangements lapse.
