II.1.4)Short description of the contract or purchase(s)
The successful tenderer will be required to provide catering and hospitality services at Winchcombe School Cheltenham.
The catering contract being offered will commence on 1.8.2015 for an initial period of 3 years, concluding on 31.7.2018, and will be offered on a guaranteed performance basis.
Total income for 2014 was 86 000 GBP. The projected cost of catering for the current year is 16 800 GBP.
The contract covers the scope for the provision of all catering services within the School, which currently includes breakfast club, morning break, lunch, all hospitality and free issue requirements. Free school meals and hospitality will be charged based on consumption and at net food cost.
The School expects the successful contractor to enable the continued development of catering through the provision of an innovative, healthy food service, prepared on-site.
The School intends to focus heavily on healthy, fresh, seasonal, locally sourced produce and sees the catering service as an exciting opportunity to compliment school life. Reduction in litter is a key objective of the School's.
Overall uptake of the catering service by students will grow through the regular introduction of new ingredients, themed and promotional events and the School is currently considering the addition of an additional outside food outlet to help improve pupil uptake and reduce queues at service times. The successful contractor will be required to play their part in acting as a catalyst for improvement of the overall pupil experience at Winchcombe School.
The School's Student Parliament have identified improved ‘value for money’ as a priority to pupils and this is perceived as key to encourage an increased uptake of the overall catering service provided. Pupils will be actively involved in the selection of the caterer who will be awarded the new contract. The successful contractor will work closely with the School to manage the provision of catering and the overall ‘meal experience’, e.g. the introduction of a pre-order / pay sandwich service is under consideration. There is a modern Cunningham's biometric cashless system in place, with three till points.
The School invites bidders to consider what capital investment they may provide in support of plans to further optimise pupil uptake.
