The accommodation the subject of this Notice is the only available accommodation which meets the requirements of proximity to a direct bus route to the University's Edinburgh Campus (i.e. within a walking distance acceptable to prospective students); and which lies within a reasonable public transport transit time to the said campus. Whilst the service provider is an incumbent supplier of student accommodation, there is a time imperative to secure this tranche of accommodation in preparation for the next academic year. Longer-term requirements will be the subject of a call for competition.

This is a Nominations Agreement where the University acts as guarantor in the event of either failure to nominate students for individual rooms; or a nominated student fails to sign an individual tenancy agreement. The cost to the University is purely the cost of weekly rentals for any empty rooms covered by and during the term of the Nominations Agreement. The contract value therefore reflects the aggregate of 112 individual Student Tenancy Agreements, and not an outlay by the University.
