The procurement of the operation of ‘Registered Local Bus services' generally within the Tyne and Wear boundary to commence from 1.9.2013. It is anticipated that subsequent contracts will be for a term of three years with an option to extend for a further two years to be reviewed annually. These will be tendered on a resource basis where vehicles are procured for specific time periods throughout the day to facilitate home to school travel and some workers services. The vehicles required will be low floor, easy access and meeting the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Acts. They will meet a minimum engine emissions level of Euro 4, requiring a minimum capacity of 44 passengers, 60 passengers and 84 passengers respectively.
