The University of Birmingham intends to contract with RTDS to upgrade and expand an existing real time power grid simulator supplied by RTDS and located in the University's Institute for Energy Research and Policy. The real time power grid simulator combines hardware and software in order to create simulations of power grids in real-time for the purposes of closed loop protective relay testing, control system testing, research, development and training.
